Indoor Athletics 8th October 2021
Twelve Yr 2 children took part in the Infant’s first sporting tournament of the year! We visited the Shine community hall along with five other local schools to take part in an indoor athletics tournament. All children had to take part in a variety of different activities such as the Javelin, hurdling and we even had a go at some curling! All children loved taking part and performed brilliantly! Well done!

Netball 5th October 2021
The Year 6 squad played their first league matches this week. Miss Sheffield was super impressed at how well they worked as a team: passing beautifully, defending with gusto and supporting each other. Lucy and Harriet’s shooting was on top form and nothing was getting past Imogen, Elsie and Molly in defense. Isla and Freya showed great perseverance and flexibility with where they played and Nancy and Sophie didn’t stop running! They won all their matches…so bring on Round 2!

Football 4th October 2021
The St Bedes Premier League season kicked off again this week. The first squad of players represented themselves and the school brilliantly in our opening two matches by encouraging each other and working well as a team. The boys were unlucky to lose their first game 3-2 and draw their second game 1-1. Special mentions go to: Kiran for some great goalkeeping (including a penalty save); Barney and Wilf for strong defending; Toby, Jack and Elliot for some slick passing moves as well as George and Jonathan for some great goals scored. Good effort boys!
There’ll be a different group of players involved in the next round of fixtures in November as there are so many year 6 children keen to play!

Hockey 6th October 2021
Ten Yr 5 girls visited Red Maids’ brand new astro turf this week to play in a fun hockey festival against 5 other private school teams. For some girls this was their first experience of playing a hockey match! The girls played brilliantly well together as a team and encouraged each other from the sideline when they weren’t playing. They came away with 3 wins and 2 draws, well done everyone!

Cross Country 12th October 2021
This week saw a team of seventeen Yr 5 and Yr 6 children compete against local schools in the North Somerset schools cross country at St Bede’s school. The children were to run 1500m around the school fields which looked very different to our small field in comparison but that did not deter everyone’s determination in their race. Each year group raced together and each team ran extremely well. Each team came within the top 20 children with many children placing in the top 10 which was fantastic. We wait to hear our school results and which children will be selected to represent North Somerset in the County finals later on in the year. A huge well done to Freya who came second in her race; what an achievement.
